A darling love story

I’ve been suffering from a bout Paranormal Romance burnout these past few months, but I decided to roll the dice with HOW TO TAME A BEAST IN SEVENS DAYS in the hope that it wouldn’t come up snake eyes. My risk was twofold because Kerrelyn Sparks is also a new-to-me author. I couldn’t have picked a better title to break the ice with! The world-building was whimsical with its inviting characters, and darling love story.
Luciana grew up in a convent, and had believed that she was an orphan until her father showed up on the Isle of Moon. Due to her upbringing, the heroine’s soul is as white as freshly fallen snow which made her transition from a secluded island to the mainland with all its politics, and royal machinations a huge shock to her system. I enjoyed observing her efforts, minor slip-ups, and eventual triumph.
The hype surrounding the Beast of Benwick made the match with the Duke of Vindalyn’s daughter all the more appalling on account of the sharp contrast. Leo’s mistrust of his betrothed, and the reason why the King paired them up further added to the conspiracy. It seemed like their arranged marriage was doomed to fail until the basis for the lies surfaced, and they realized they were stronger together.
I’m purposely avoiding commenting on the EMBRACED aspects, and why Ana was stowed away for nineteen years because this is the first installment in the series, and I don’t want to give anything away. That being said, I really liked Brody, and with four other “sisters” waiting in the wings, it seems a safe bet to assume that readers can expect at least five books. My only complaint was the length. It just kept going and going…
HOW TO TAME A BEAST IN SEVEN DAYS allowed me to finally discover Kerrelyn Sparks’ writing!

Brilliant start to a new series!

As a long-time fan of Ms Sparks & her brilliant novels, I was beyond thrilled to get this one in my hands and the wait was well worth it! Kerrelyn has a unique way of weaving a story that I've never seen duplicated by another author.. She pulls you in, thread by thread, and before you know it, you're addicted and putting down the book is impossible! A Much Better Story Than I Was Expecting

Well as a fan of the authors previous books I was not sure what to expect in this series but pure fantasy was not one of the choices I would have guessed.
I mean when you start a book out with a hidden princess, an evil king, a mysterious hero, and a plot straight out of fantasy 101 what's not to love?
Well to answer that question the beginning and the ending, the setup for this great story has our reluctant heroine giving up on her whole life for a Father she has never seen and did not even know existed all within the space of a few hours. The ending to an exciting story went from nowhere to HEA in the space of about 20 pages it seemed (I did not count them).
Did it ruin the story? Of course not, I loved it even with the shortcomings and the characters were all defined enough that you actually felt something for pretty much each of the main and secondary characters.
Bottom Line: A charming and entertaining story set in a typical fantasy setting with a few twists that make it original but the main thing is I enjoyed the book and can't wait for the next one.
