better then any image you could just download and print

After becoming frustrated with the images of periodic tables available to download I decided to buy a few periodic tables. This one is labeled basic but it more then that. It is one laminate page (no unfolding) and includes on the table for each element; atomic number, atomic weight, atomic symbol, if it is radioactive or not, oxidation state, 1st Ionization Potential, the electron (spdf) configuration, and the written out name on both the front and the back. The elements are color coded to indicate whether it's a solid, liquid, gas or artificially prepared.It also includes as extra the major isotopes w % of occurrence, a few metric conversions and units, a side by side graph of Fahrenheit Celsius and Kelvin, a few prefix names, and some laws constants and equations that you are supposed to remember.

My only gripe is that it is smaller print then the Advanced Periodic Table from Quickstudy. I am young and my eyes are pretty good so it is ok for me but I know that anyone with some vision problems might have a harder time reading it. But in exchange for smaller print I also get one page no foldout which is more portable and convenient. I can pull it out, place it in front of my notebook while I am working and just look up to find what I am looking for rather then opening something. To be fair I have both and use both. Additionally, for homework use I bought the big blue poster and framed it and use that almost exclusively at home because large print really is just easier to read.

Best Periodic Table

I am a Pre-Pharmacy student, so I use the periodic table a LOT. This one has way more information than I could ever need at once, which is amazing. When I ordered it, I thought it would have the elemental symbols and their atomic number/weight.
THAT'S ONLY THE BEGINNING

That is an amazing amount of information for one sheet of paper (front and back). It is super convenient. I ended up buying another couple in case I lose the first one.

Durable and clear

This table has all the information most people would ever need from it. It is also very clear and easy to read. The only gripe I have is that it was made in 2002. They should update it already. Yes there are other tables for sale, but they are not this size (like a sheet of paper) and laminated. So this is still the better choice even versus newer, updated tables.

Good (only) as a review.

I bought this before going off on a series of interviews because, although I'd used Hibernate and Spring before, it had been a while, and I wanted to refresh my memory.

There's nothing in here that you couldn't gather for yourself. That said, it's a decent - but shallow - collection of questions and answers. You'll likely not gain anything more from this book than either a refreshing of your memory or a high-level understanding of the topics - enough to talk briefly about them to an interviewer. However, that might be more than enough. For me, it helped to answer a few preliminary questions at one place and got me an interview that I might not have otherwise gotten (although I ultimately decided on somewhere else). However, this will not in any way teach you enough to talk in depth on any of the three subjects.

If you've got the time, read up on the topics for free online. Otherwise, this book might be worthwhile for you. Specifically, as a Kindle purchase that I could review on my iPad, it gave me something to review without looking like I was reviewing as I was waiting. I would have preferred something better, but at the price, this was sufficient and - surprisingly, as far as I was concerned - useful at least once.

The questions are not grouped by functional area. The book is just a random list of questions in no particular order.
There are very few high level questions about Hibernate/ Spring/ Struts architecture. Instead the the questions cover low level details, such as xml file specifics, names of actual classes/ interfaces/ method names etc. These details don't typically come up in real interviews, because interviewers would rather know about your overall understanding of a technology, rather than details that can easily be found in a reference manual.

The material on Fourier transforms, in addition to presenting the more familiar theory, also deals with problems in the complex domain, in particular with problems involving the Laplace transform.

Soviet mathematician Georgi E.�Shilov (1917-75) was a longtime Professor of Mathematics at Moscow State University and�the author of several other successful Dover reprints.

A beginning course in functional analysis

Elementary Functional Analysis by Georgi E. Shilov is suitable for a beginning course in functional analysis and some of its applications, e.g., to Fourier series, to harmonic analysis, to partial differential equations (PDEs), to Sobolev spaces, and it is a good supplement and complement to two other popular books in the subject, one by Rudin, and another by Edwards.
Rudin's book is entitled "Functional Analysis" (not in the Dover series) and it is my favorite. Rudin's book is of newer vintage, and it goes more in depth, and includes new material on unbounded operators in Hilbert space. Edwards' book "Functional Analysis: Theory and Applications;" is in the Dover series, and it is twice as thick as Shilov's book.
Topics covered in Shilov: Function spaces, L^p-spaces, Hilbert spaces, and linear operators; the standard Banach, and Hahn-Banach theorems. It includes many exercises and examples. Well motivated with applications.
Book Comparison:
Shilov book is gentler on students, and it is probably easier to get started with: It stresses motivation a bit more, the exercises are easier, and finally Shilov includes a few applications; fashionable these days. And of course, the books in the Dover series are cheap in comparison. Review by Palle Jorgensen, August 2007.

The book is very good but it is not self contained

I enjoyed the last chapters of the book, that are relative to the applications: differential geometry, Fourier series, Fourier transform, differential equations.

Also I think that the study of the convergence of Fourier series partially based on the notion of delta-like sequences of functions is very interesting and possibly it enables some generalizations.

However the book is not self-contained because it does very much references to 'Linear Algebra' and 'Elementary Real and Complex Analysis' of the author.

another great book from Shilov

This is volume 2 of Shilov's Moscow University course on Mathematical Analysis. If you have read Shilov's first volume ("Elementary Real and Complex Analysis") or his volume on Linear Algebra, then you can expect more of the same clear explanation and thoughtful organization of materials. His proofs are designed to help the reader understand material and provide deep insight into the mathematics involved. Highly recommended for those who want a consise -- but very thorough -- introduction to theory behind differential equations and Fourier analysis.
